During CES 2012 in January, Motorola introduced the Motorola Droid 4 XT849 mobile phone. Verizon will be selling this QWERTY keyboard model starting 10 February, so let’s take a closer look at this new smartphone.

Overview

At first impression, this is a slider mobile phone that is about to bump cases with BlackBerry for business customers. In a closer look, it could attract a whole lot of casual users as well.

First up on the review plate is the fact that the Moto Droid 4 XT849 is the thinnest QWERTY model on the soon-to-be market. It’s the most powerful slider with 4G speeds. And an advantage this model has over other QWERTY keyboard handsets is that its keyboard hosts five rows just like a standard desktop or laptop model.

Verizon states that on their 4G LTE network, users can expect download speeds of 5 to 12 megabytes per second or Mbps.

Android lovers will be thrilled to know that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board this smartphone is already slated for the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade!

A big bonus is that the Motorola Droid 4 XT849 is capable of connecting to either a GSM or a CDMA network! Users aren’t locked into one or the other.
